Quantum Fuel Pump EFI Filter HFP-S128 (Single)

It's important to regularly replace your fuel pump strainer, even if your fuel pump is currently functioning well. The fuel pump strainer, also known as a pre-filter or fuel sock, serves as the first line of defense against fuel system contamination, including dirt, dust, and other fine particles commonly found in regular pump gasoline.

Over time, gasoline tends to varnish, leaving a thick, filmy layer on various components inside the fuel tank, including the fuel pump internals, tank walls, and particularly the strainer or pre-filter. A varnished or clogged strainer restricts flow, compelling the fuel pump to exert more effort, thereby affecting its longevity. Undoubtedly, fuel tank varnishing and strainer clogging are the primary causes of fuel pump failure.

In Powersports applications where the motor may not be operated daily like in automotive vehicles, it's advisable to replace fuel pump strainers annually as part of inexpensive preventative maintenance. Additionally, if the motor will be inactive for an extended period, it's highly recommended to add a bottle of fuel stabilizer to the tank and run the motor for a few minutes to circulate the fuel stabilizer throughout the system.
